Solpod Powers Allianz Stadium, the Home of Football in Sydney

Sydney Super Cup at Allianz Stadium

Allianz Stadium, the home of football in Sydney, is kicking goals with their 176 kWp Solpod solar system.  The first game of the Sydney Super Cup was recently held on Thursday 17 November at the newly constructed Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

At Solpod we have been very excited to watch the first 2022 games and opening of Allianz Stadium, as our innovative Solpods are helping to power the stadium with clean, renewable solar energy.

The Sydney FC defeated the Scottish Premiership team Celtic FC 2:1 in the first game of the Sydney Super Cup, with later games including Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Everton FC.

“A world-class football tournament deserves a premier destination and Sydney leads the way in being able to deliver the biggest and best sporting events including the inaugural Sydney Super Cup,” said Mr Henskens, Minister for Sport.

We congratulate Genelec Power Solutions for a successful rooftop solar PV installation. The system is a generous 176kW total size of Solpod solar PV, with the capacity to abate carbon emissions the equivalent to a forest of 1200 trees.

Situated in Moore Park, Allianz Stadium has a seating capacity of 42,500.  The Minister for Tourism, Ben Franklin said “The NSW Government is focused on delivering major events like the Sydney Super Cup that capture the world’s attention, drives the NSW visitor economy and builds Sydney’s reputation as the events capital of the Asia Pacific.”

Solpod is proud to have our Australian designed and made solar solution, Solpod Mini, installed on this new, state-of-the-art sporting venue.

Australian Made and Manufactured Solar

Allianz Stadium is able to access clean, green solar energy through an Australian Made and manufactured Solpod rooftop solar system. As well as helping to make the stadium more sustainable, we think the solar system looks fantastic on this landmark building.
